The total sales proceeds of Martin Ritchie’s book, “As Seen From The Boardroom”, have been donated to the Falkirk Foundation and the Chris Mitchell Foundation.
Both charities will receive £1,000. In addition, following from publicity in the book, a further £2,000 has been donated to the Falkirk Foundation by the Mabel Harper Charitable Trust.
The Falkirk Foundation will use the donation to support football and multi-sport activity clubs for children and young people with mental health conditions.
Falkirk Foundation chairman, Charles MacDonald said: “Like most charities we have found the COVID-19 pandemic challenging times. We very much appreciate these donations which will be used to support our work in the Falkirk community. “
The Chris Mitchell Foundation raises awareness around mental health and wellbeing for players, ex-players and staff working in the Scottish professional football industry. The money will go towards Mental Health First Aid training, which has had an extraordinary uptake over the last three years, benefitting all levels of Scottish football.
“As Seen From The Boardroom: My story of Falkirk Football Club 1998 to 2019” is Martin Ritchie’s personal account of the years he served on the club’s board. A few copies of the book are still available through the club shop.
