Falkirk Football Club is delighted to announce that Coll Donaldson has signed a contract extension.
The club captain today put pen to paper, signing a new one-year deal, with the option of another, potentially keeping him at The Falkirk Stadium until June 2028.
Coll joined The Bairns in the summer of 2022 as John McGlynn’s second signing as Falkirk Manager, and has made 116 appearances for the club.
He was named Club Captain ahead of the 2024/25 season following on from the club’s invincible league 1 winning campaign, but was unfortunately sidelined through injury before the end of the season.
The defender made his long awaited return to the pitch, coming on as a substitute in our 2-1 win against Livingston earlier this month.
Coll spoke on his new deal:
“I’m over the moon. Everyone wanted this deal so it was a straightforward process. I feel grateful to the Manager who’s shown me so much support, as has everyone around the club. It’s a tight knit group here and that helps a lot.
“I’ll stay here as log as possible, I’ve througouhgly enjoyed my time here. Nobody thought in their wildest dreams a few years ago that we’d be top six in the Premiership now. This season I’ve mostly been a spectator but I’m looking to end the season on a high. I’m delighted today. It’s a really good moment for me.”
John McGlynn added:
“It’s great to have Coll going forward. He’s been unlucky with injuries, but we believe that he’s over these now. He’s been back for some time and I’m sure between now and the end of the season, he’ll contribute and convince everyone of his fitness.
“It’s very good to get this done. We never really fall asleep at the wheel and we’re always looking to extend and obviously bring in new players when the time is right. We have a number of contracts on the table for a few players right now, and we’re delighted to get Coll extended.
“He’s our club captain, even when he’s not been playing, he’s done a great job off the pitch and that’s important as well.
“It’s about security for him, and he can now go out enjoy the rest of the season. We’re in a very good place, he’s got a big part to play in it, and it’s very much over to Coll”
