FALKIRK FC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Falkirk FC’s Annual General Meeting for the year ending 31 May 2025 took place on Thursday 23 October at the Brockville Bar.

The accounts reflected a period of significant progress on and off the park. The club recorded improved trading results, strengthened its balance sheet, and made key decisions to support long-term development, as well as gaining a fantastic second consecutive league title.

Turnover increased from £2.49 million to £4.43 million, driven by a Championship-winning season and a run to the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals. This contributed to a profit of £606,000, compared to a loss of £436,000 the previous year. Gross profit rose from £228,000 to £1.318 million, and year-end cash improved significantly, driven by record-breaking season ticket sales.

The club’s net value increased from £1.176 million to £4.433 million, reflecting the acquisition of the Kevin McAllister Stand and a revaluation of stadium assets. The acquisition of South Stand Development Company Ltd added £940,000 to the balance sheet, while the revaluation of the North and KM7 stands contributed an additional £1.712 million.

The club’s financial trajectory over the past four seasons shows a marked recovery from the near fatal losses incurred in 2021/22:

Year Turnover Profit/(Loss) Year-End Cash
2021/22 £1.3m (£1.2m) £30k
2022/23 £2.7m (£0.1m) £416k
2023/24 £2.5m (£0.4m) £644k
2024/25 £4.4m £0.6m £1.638m

This improvement has stabilised the club in the short term and enabled investment in infrastructure, including essential stadium maintenance and enhancements to the supporter and player experience, while maintaining a competitive squad and bolstering our football department with additional coaching, sports science, medical, and analytical/scouting expertise.

These results – and continued support from the Falkirk Supporters Society, Patrons Group and sponsors – gave us confidence to re-establish the Falkirk Academy, with youth players already earning international recognition and senior contracts.

Season ticket sales reached record levels season after season, contributing to liquidity and matchday atmosphere again, giving us confidence to ensure that ticket pricing for the 2025/26 season could be set at the most competitive level in the Premiership, with our offer to families and younger fans maintained.

Despite the positive results, the club acknowledges that progress remains fragile. As noted in the Directors’ Report, we are by no means on a sound, or long-term sustainable financial footing. Rising costs, including the mandated transition to a grass pitch, present short-term financial challenges. These have been partially mitigated through prize money acceleration and negotiated waivers, but the club still needs to make a significant investment if we are to replace our UEFA-compliant artificial pitch.

The club has entered the 2025/26 season with a break-even budget and continues to seek ways to broaden revenue generation. Longer-term plans include the development of a commercially oriented fourth stand and attracting new external investment. Continued support from the Falkirk Supporters Society remains essential to the club’s financial model.

The AGM also voted unanimously in favour of all resolutions put to shareholders, which included extending the term on the board of Keith Gourlay, one of the original directors who joined the board in 2021. Questions covered a wide range of issues, including working with local businesses, building the Academy, and the vital importance of fan-funding through the Falkirk Supporters’ Society.

Directors discussed their plans to transition to a grass pitch in 2027, and also efforts to attract an investor who would work alongside fans to progress the club on and off the pitch, but not at the cost of selling our “birthright” on the cheap. Falkirk fans have funded the club to the tune of £1 million since 2022, helping propel the club from League One to the Premiership in successive seasons. So any new investment would meet the board’s overall valuation and bring additional benefit to the club, be that in terms of football development or infrastructure.

Falkirk FC’s financial year 2024/25 marks a period of recovery and cautious optimism. The club has made measurable progress, but recognises that future success depends on sustained effort, prudent management, and continued engagement from supporters, partners, and investors.

We’re going in the right direction. Together as one.
