FALKIRK FC HALL OF FAME RELAUNCHED AS PART OF 150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Falkirk Football Club is delighted to announce the relaunch of the Falkirk FC Hall of Fame, with the first new inductees set to be recognised during the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

The Hall of Fame was originally launched in 1999 with Back the Bairns playing a significant role in recognising prominent Bairns before a Gala Dinner marked the club’s 125th anniversary in 2001. The original concept created the foundations on which the relaunched Hall of Fame will now be built.

The Hall of Fame relaunch is an exciting opportunity to celebrate our club’s history and the people who have contributed so much to our first 150 years. So it was appropriate that the Falkirk Football Heritage Trust approached the club to begin discussions around relaunching the Hall of Fame, giving it both the prominence and respect befitting of such an important part of the club’s history.

Those discussions included a review of the original criteria, most notably the previous requirement for players to have made a minimum of 200 first-team appearances for the club. While that benchmark rightly recognised longevity, the club and Falkirk Football Heritage Trust agreed that a strict appearance threshold did not fully reflect the many different ways in which an individual can make an exceptional contribution.

The aim of the relaunched Hall of Fame is to create a broader but still rigorous framework through which those contributions can be properly recognised.

Following extensive work led by Falkirk Football Heritage Trust, a revised set of criteria has been agreed. The 150th anniversary celebrations provide the perfect opportunity to formally relaunch the Hall of Fame and begin recognising those who have helped shape Falkirk Football Club across our history.

The new criteria for induction into the Hall of Fame is as follows:

– Significant contribution to the history of the club, either through appearances, goals scored, caps awarded or individual achievement.

– Major International honours while at the club.

– Managerial achievements.

– Ambassadorial role for Falkirk F.C. as a player or manager.

– Significant achievement in football before or after joining Falkirk F.C.

– Special contribution to the club as recognised by the awards committee.

The relaunch will be marked by a dedicated Hall of Fame event on the 14th of November 2026, where the first group of legends will be inducted. Further information on this event including how supporters can attend will be available early next week.

Going forward, new Hall of Fame inductees will be recognised annually as part of the club’s yearly Recognition Awards Night, ensuring the Hall of Fame remains an active and important celebration of Falkirk FC’s history for this and future generations.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to everyone at the Falkirk Football Heritage Trust for the considerable amount of research and work that has gone into developing the new criteria and helping create a structure which can continue for many years to come.

Michael White, Falkirk FC Club Historian and Falkirk Football Heritage Trust Chairman, said:

“The Hall of Fame is an important way of recognising the people who have made an exceptional contribution to Falkirk Football Club, so it was important that any relaunch was structured and comprehensive.

“One of the main aims of this process has therefore been to establish criteria which still set a very high bar for induction, while allowing us to recognise the different ways in which individuals have helped shape Falkirk Football Club.

“A great deal of research and discussion has gone into establishing that framework, and it is fitting that we are now in a position to relaunch the Hall of Fame during the club’s 150th anniversary year.”

Falkirk FC Chief Executive Jamie Swinney added:

“One of the major themes of our 150th anniversary has been making sure we celebrate our history properly while also creating things which will have a lasting impact beyond this season.

“The Hall of Fame is a really important part of that. When the Falkirk Football Heritage Trust first approached us about relaunching it, there was a clear feeling on both sides that it needed to be given a greater level of prominence within the club.

“We also wanted to make sure that, before bringing it back, we had the right structure in place. The work that Michael and everyone at the Heritage Trust have put into developing the new criteria has been invaluable, and I would like to thank them for the time and expertise they have committed to the project.

“We are really looking forward to announcing the first new inductees at the launch event and, importantly, ensuring that the Hall of Fame becomes a permanent part of our annual Recognition Night going forward.”
