Following the success of our ‘John de Graeme’ strip last season, this year’s kit is inspired by the blue and white hoops of Falkirk FC’s first ever recorded shirt, worn by our founding Bairns between 1876 and 1880.The kit also celebrates the significant role played by Falkirk District’s waterways in its rich history, and social and economic development.

The rivers of the Falkirk area – especially the Forth, Carron and Avon – have been the lifeblood of the area since Roman times. Water motifs still feature in the crests of three of our four burghs – Grangemouth, Bo’ness and Denny & Dunipace.

This season’s heritage kit therefore borrows the crest’s ‘wave’ design, recognising the importance of all three burghs and Falkirk fans who live there.The Romans first recognised the value of connecting the Firths of Clyde and Forth via the Antonine Wall. The Forth was a vital life-source throughout the Middle Ages, when villages like Elphinstone Pans (now Dunmore) and Grangepans produced valuable salt from the river, exporting it by sea from Airth and Bo’ness.

Coalmining was a major industry, with generations of Bairns toiling underground. The opening of the Forth & Clyde Canal in 1790 and the Union Canal in 1822 were in bringing the Industrial Revolution to all four burghs, transforming the district from rural market towns and villages into central Scotland’s industrial heartland.

Papermills and sawmills, brick and tar works, breweries and distilleries all sprang up, and steel and iron manufacturing became central to the prosperity of thousands of local families. The same can be said today with petrochemical and other manufacturing industries.Contained in the heritage strip’s blue waves are twenty-two images: places, people, buildings, and other iconic artefacts all connected to the essential role our waterways have played in the history and heritage of the Falkirk area.Also incorporated are the nautical motifs and Latin mottos of Grangemouth and Bo’ness, both of which will hopefully inspire our players to great achievements this season. Grangemouth’s ‘Ingenium Vincit Omnia’ means “Skill Conquers All,” while the Bo’ness motto ‘Sine Metu’ means “Without Fear.”The Heritage kit is trimmed in red and black. Red is for Sir Laurence Dundas of Kerse, who founded Grangemouth in 1777 and for the powerful Hamilton family of Kinneil House in Bo’ness. Black is drawn from the burgh crest and represents the coalmining which played a vital role in most towns and villages throughout the area.Overall, the Heritage kit delivers a fresh, modern look but one that is steeped in the history of both Falkirk Football Club and our local area, connecting our very first strip design with the burghs of Falkirk District.

As with last season, the heritage kit will remain sponsor free. A share of profits from all match-worn and replica kits will be donated to charity. This year’s beneficiary will be the Seagull Trust Cruises, which provides canal cruises across the central belt for people with special needs.

This year, we are also running a competition offering two season tickets for season 2025/26 for the best entry, to whoever correctly identifies the highest number of images featured in the strip, with bonus points for explaining the connection to our waterways. As a starter, we will give you the Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel for free, so only 20 to go!
