Falkirk Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Jacob Murrell from DC United, subject to international clearance and SFA approval.
The 22-year-old American travels from the United States to join John McGlynn’s side as our 14th summer signing.
Jacob joins on a two year deal with a one year club-held option from MLS side DC United, where he made 51 appearances across two seasons. He was drafted by DC United in the 2024 MLS Superdraft, where he was the seventh overall pick.
The Maryland-born striker scored ten goals in ten appearances for the Annapolis Blues in his first season as senior player before making his professional debut in 2024.
Jacob will wear the number 24 shirt this season.
John McGlynn said on his latest signing:
“We’re delighted to get Jacob in. He’s a player we’ve been aware of for a wee while and one that we feel can bring something different to the group.
“He’s a big, strong boy, he’s 6’2”, but he’s also very mobile. He likes to get in behind and he’s got a real eye for goal. He’s still only 22, so we think there’s a lot more to come from him as well.
“He’s been playing at a good level with DC United in the MLS, so he’s coming in having had experience in a very competitive league. We’ve done a lot of work on him, watched a lot of footage and spoken to people about him, and everything we’ve heard in terms of his character has been really positive.
“We’re always looking to add players who will fit the way we want to play and who can come in and improve the squad. We believe Jacob can do that, so we’re really pleased to get it over the line and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Welcome to Falkirk, Jacob!
