Falkirk Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Matthew Rowan as Head of Analysis.
Matthew returns to The Falkirk Stadium having previously worked with the club under John McGlynn and Paul Smith in a similar capacity as Lead Performance Analyst from 2022 till 2024. Since leaving Falkirk he has built up a strong reputation in performance analysis, contributing to the development of young talent at Rangers as part of their B team setup and working with the Scottish FA by travelling with various national youth squads on international camps.His appointment strengthens the club’s commitment to data-driven preparation and performance, and he will work closely with the management team to deliver detailed pre and post-match opposition analysis, as well as ongoing player development support.
John McGlynn said on Matthew joining his backroom team:
“Matty was with us a couple of years ago, we were disappointed to lose him, but we could understand the reasons behind it after he got a really good offer from Rangers B. This season has given us an opportunity to strengthen our infrastructure off the field, and as part of that we are absolutely delighted to get Matty back.
“Matty comes in to head up the opposition analysis. There is a great deal of good work getting done by Andy Tannahill, but going into a bigger league, we feel that we need to be adding and supporting what we’ve got. We believe that Matty’s the man to do that, and I must say, in the few days that we’ve been back, there has already been the marked improvement that we were hoping for with the addition resource. We’re delighted that Matty is back with us, and we look forward to working with him going forward.”
Matthew Rowan added:
“I am delighted to be back at the club. Falkirk FC is at an exciting point, back in the Premiership and with the full academy starting back. I am looking forward to working with John, Paul, Andy, the rest of the backroom staff, and players again, and hopefully it will be another successful season to add to an excellent past couple of years from them all.”
