NEXT STOP: AIRDRIEONIANS (H)

The Navy Blue Train returns home to Falkirk this weekend as we host Airdrieonians at The Falkirk Stadium.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 22nd March. This Saturday we are back at The Falkirk Stadium to take on bottom of the league Airdrieonians.

The last time we faced Airdrie was only two weeks ago as we travelled to the Albert Bartlett Stadium for a rearranged fixture. It turned out to be a very satisfying evening in front of the BBC Scotland cameras, as The Bairns came away with a convincing 3-0 win, including Barney Stewart’s first goal for the club and a screamer from Brad Spencer.

The Bairns have been on a terrific run of form recently and are unbeaten in seven league games. Last weekend they travelled to Hampden, and came away with three points after a comprehensive and dominant win. The game finished 4-0 to Falkirk but it could have been eight. Despite having the ball in the net, and having several more clear cut chances, the opener came in the 41st minute when Liam Henderson headed in a cross at the back post. The flood gates opened in the second half and goals from Gary Oliver, Calvin Miller, and Tom Lang completed the scoring.

Airdrie have started to pick up form having been adrift at the bottom of the table for months, and are now gaining ground on ninth placed Dunfermline. They hosted Livingston at the weekend with the odds against them as the visitors looked to keep themselves in the title race. Against the odds, the home side took the lead, with Dean McMaster scoring for Airdrie after 22 minute. Robbie Muirhead got his team back in the game, but the hosts managed to get back in front thanks to Ben Wilson.

The second half was just as eventful as the first. Livingston took the lead for the first time following goals from Danny Wilson and Stephen Kelly, but with five minutes to go, Liam McStravick came up with an all important goal to rescue a point for The Diamonds, and deal a blow to Livingston’s title hopes.
