The Navy Blue Train departs The Falkirk Stadium next Monday as we travel to East Kilbride to begin our 2024/25 Scottish Cup campaign.
Kick-off is at 7:45pm, Monday 2nd December. We take a break from league duty as we enter the Scottish Cup next Monday in a third round tie against East Kilbride.
The Bairns returned to winning ways last Friday with a win against Queen’s Park at Hampden. Despite the scoreline, Falkirk were dominant throughout, playing some of the best football we’ve seen this season in a game that could have seen us score several more goals. After testing Queen’s Park goalkeeper Calum Ferrie on several occasions, the breakthrough came in the 26th minute thanks to some excellent build-up play. Dylan Tait threaded an incredible ball through for Calvin Miller on the left wing, who played the ball across the box. Aidan Nesbitt was there to receive it, managing to beat his man and fire home from close range.
Falkirk continued to dominate for the remainder of the game with the home side only seeing a couple of good chances go their way, one of which hit the bar. With the majority of games called off over the weekend, Falkirk increased their lead at the top of the Championship to six points for the time being. They now have a few extra days to prepare for their first foray into the Scottish Cup this season.
East Kilbride’s game at the weekend was called off due to the adverse weather conditions, but go into Monday’s game with an 11 game unbeaten run in tow, across all competitions. Earlier in the month, Mick Kennedy’s side caused an upset in the SPFL Trust Trophy, beating Ayr United in a five-goal thriller at K-Park. The following Saturday saw them progress to the next round of the Finest Carmats South Challenge Cup with a 7-0 win away to Blackburn United.
East Kilbride currently sit top of the Lowland League table, level on points with Celtic B.
