The next stop for The Navy Blue Train is The Falkirk Stadium, as The Bairns host Greenock Morton in our second consecutive home game.
Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 2nd November. This Saturday we take on Greenock Morton at The Falkirk Stadium, looking to extend our unbeaten run to six games.
We head into the weekend on the back of another derby day victory, having taken the bragging rights against Dunfermline for the second time this season.
It wasn’t the best Bairns performance this season but it was a good enough performance to take all three points. Falkirk opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Ethan Ross’ curled effort struck the upright, deflecting off Dunfermline captain Chris Hamilton, and into the back of the net.
The Bairns created a number of chances, but it took until the 57th minute for them to double the lead. Aidan Nesbitt’s shot inside the box was blocked by Pars goalkeeper Oluwayemi and Calvin Miller was on hand to tap the ball into the net following a scramble.
Dunfermline then threw everything at Falkirk, trying to get back into the game. A contentious free-kick decision from 30 yards out gave them a way back in though. David Wotherspoon’s pinpoint delivery found Lewis McCann who headed the ball into the top corner, off the inside of the post, leaving Nicky Hogarth helpless.
The Pars pushed hard for an equaliser for the remaining 18 minutes but failed to find it. The loss made it five in the league without a win for Dunfermline, who sit just one point above Airdrieonians at the very bottom of the table, while Falkirk remain top, four points ahead of Livingston in second.
Our visitors this Saturday, Greenock Morton, have shown inconsistent form in the league. A heavy loss to Hamilton last weekend and a draw with Dunfermline the previous week means that Dougie Imrie’s men find themselves seventh in the standings, having been leapfrogged by Hamilton Accies. It was nil-nil at New Douglas Park for 77 minutes last Saturday before Oli Shaw hit a seven minute hat-trick to hand the visitors their fourth defeat of the season.
