The Navy Blue Train pulls back in to The Falkirk Stadium this Saturday as we face Greenock Morton in the William Hill Championship.
Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 5th April. The Bairns return to action after a weekend off, as we head into our final five games of the season.
Falkirk lost their first game in nine last Tuesday, falling to late defeat at The Home of the Set Fare Arena. Despite being the much better team this season, Falkirk have struggled against their title rivals Livingston, and Tuesday night was our last chance to take points from David Martindale’s side.
It was a game of extremely fine margins, in which both teams created chances. The winning goal came late on, in the 88th minute, and it was an extremely unlucky goal to concede. Andrew Shinnie found himself in the right place at the right time, heading home Kelly’s free kick that bounced back into play off the cross bar.
At this current moment though, The Bairns remain eight points clear at the top of the table, while Livingston sit third in the standings, behind Ayr United on goal difference.
Our visitors this weekend have been on an inconsistent run of form. Morton were 11 unbeaten before losing to The Bairns at Cappielow. They the lost three in a row, before winning their next three in a row, and have now failed to win their previous two. They go into this Saturday’s match on the back of a defeat at home to Partick Thistle, dealing them a massive blow in their hunt for fourth place.
Morton occupy sixth place in the league, now seven points away from a play-off spot.
