Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 1st March.
This week Falkirk prepare to take on Hamilton Accies in the William Hill Championship hoping to make it back-to-back wins after a convincing Friday night win against Greenock Morton last week.
It was a big weekend as Falkirk went toe-to-toe with Morton, who were unbeaten in 11 going into Friday night’s match in front of the BBC cameras. After a draw with Ayr United the previous weekend, Falkirk’s lead at the top was a narrow one. The Bairns looked to take advantage of their early game as second place Ayr United played third place Livingston.
The Bairns started the game strongly, creating some good chances early on and it didn’t take too long for the opener to arrive. Falkirk moved the ball up the park quickly, with the ball coming to Ethan Ross on the left wing. The winger found Scott Arfield with a pass infield and the returning fan favourite tried his luck from outside the box. His curling effort found the bottom corner for the midfielder’s fifth goal in three games.
Eight minutes later, Falkirk doubled their lead. Having assisted the first goal, Ethan Ross decided it was his turn to get on the scoresheet. Some excellent footwork from striker Barney Stewart resulted in him finding Ethan with a pass. The tricky forward drove in to the box, gliding past the Morton defenders, and placed the ball into the bottom right corner.
The second half wasn’t as exciting as the first, but Falkirk controlled the rest of the game, managing it well and making sure they kept a clean sheet. We remain top of the league table, with a four point gap to Livingston, who retook second place with a win at Somerset Park on Saturday.
Hamilton find themselves on a run of poor form and will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat. Accies have just one win in six league games and have suffered two consecutive defats by two goals to nil.
Last Saturday they travelled to Kirkcaldy to take on Raith Rovers, who were on a high after putting three unanswered goals past Partick Thistle the week before.
The hosts opened the scoring on the half hour mark, when Dylan Easton scored from the penalty spot. The second came in the second half when Finlay Pollock headed home Lewis Stevenson’s cross in the 64th minute to wrap up all three points.
Hamilton sit ninth in the standings, ten points ahead of bottom placed Airdrieonians, and level on points with Dunfermline in eighth.
