The next stop for the Navy Blue Train is New Douglas Park, as we kick off the second quarter of the season against Hamilton Academical.
Kick-off is at 7:45pm, Friday 18th October. On Friday we face Hamilton for the first time this season live on BBC Scotland.
The Bairns begin the second quarter of fixtures top of the table having taken 20 points from our first nine games. The past week-and-a-half has been a tough one with quick-fire home games against Ayr United and Livingston before a trip to Firhill last Saturday and the squad has shown its resilience to come through those games unbeaten. The Partick Thistle result was a tough one to take and felt like two points dropped after one of the best footballing displays the side has shown all season. In-form Ethan Ross opened the scoring four minutes into the second half when Aidan Nesbitt’s clever over-the-top ball sent him one-on-one and the winger finished cooly past the goalkeeper. The Bairns had 25 shots to Partick’s eight on the day, hitting the woodwork on three occasions. Luck clearly wasn’t with us, and that was evident when Brian Graham clinically equalised a couple of minutes later with Thistle’s only shot on target. Despite not taking three points, Falkirk remain two points clear at the top of the league.
Our hosts this Friday have not enjoyed their start to October. They began the month with a loss to Queen’s Park at Hampden before exiting the SPFL Trust Trophy last Friday with a one-nil defeat at home to Greenock Morton. Accies have won just two games in the league this season, beating Partick Thistle and Dunfermline. Their form sees them sitting seventh in the league table with nine points.
