The Navy Blue Train sets off for The Home of the Set Fare Arena tomorrow evening as we face Livingston in the William Hill Championship.
Kick-off is at 7:45pm, Tuesday 25th March. We prepare to take on Livingston for the final time this season as we aim to make it five wins in a row and extend our lead at the top to 14 points.
The Bairns are flying at the moment, having returned to their best at the perfect time. With six games left to play, we sit 11 points clear at the top of the table, and a win tomorrow night would be a massive step towards the league title.
Last Saturday’s win wasn’t the prettiest against a tough Airdrieonians side, but the boys got the job done nonetheless. It was an eventful first half with both teams creating chances, Ethan Ross coming closest with his free kick hitting the crossbar. The teams went into the break level thanks to Nicky Hogarth’s heroics late on in the first 45, the goalkeeper making a crucial double save to keep Airdrie out.
The deadlock was finally broken just after the hour mark. Ethan Ross’s ball across the box found Gary Oliver, but his effort on the stretch was blocked by the goalkeeper. Fortunately the ball fell kindly for Calvin Miller, and the in-form winger tapped the ball in for the easiest goal he’ll ever score.
Airdrieonians responded by created another couple of good chances, one effort from Ricco Diack going an inch wide of the post, and another strike from Mochrie, following an excellent bit of skill, that Nicky Hogarth managed to save.
The final goal of the game came in the seventh minute of added time. Substitute Dylan Tait made an impact after coming on, upon his return from injury. The midfielder burst into the box and was brought down by Airdrie goalkeeper, Cade Melrose. Scott Arfield stepped up to take the penalty and sent the ‘keeper the wrong way to put the game beyond doubt with no time left on the clock.
While Falkirk’s form has picked up, Livingston’s has slowed down. David Martindale’s side are unbeaten in nine league games, but have drawn their last three, dropping points against Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers, and Airdrieonians.
Livingston remain the only team in the Championship we haven’t beaten, and Tuesday night is the perfect opportunity to secure a win over our title rivals.
