Falkirk hosted Raith Rovers last weekend, knowing that a win would all but secure the league title. The men in navy blue were on top for large parts of the game and managed to score the opener after 17 minutes. Some superb play saw Ethan Ross take the ball from a throw in, skip past two players and feed the ball to Calvin Miller, who showed composure to place the ball in the back of the net.
Falkirk were largely untroubled until the 61st minute, when Sean Mackie was shown the second of two yellows in quick succession. Falkirk had to defend for their lives and managed to hold on until the 88th minute, when the visitors finally scored the equaliser. Two more goals would follow from the visiting team, as Paul Hanlon managed to squeeze another home four minutes later. The third followed another four minutes later, when the referee blew for a penalty after Lewis Vaughan went down in the area. The penalty was tucked away and Raith completed their comeback.
We remain three points clear at the top of the league with two games left to play.
Friday night’s hosts dropped points last weekend in their quest to remain in their play-off spot. Now level on points with Raith Rovers, but hanging on by goal difference, Thistle had to settle for a goalless draw with Dunfermline at East End Park.
