NEXT STOP: RAITH ROVERS (A)

The next stop for the Navy Blue Train is Kircaldy, as The Bairns travel to Stark’s Park to take on Raith Rovers this Saturday.

Falkirk return to Championship action this weekend following our exit from the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday.

Confidence in the camp remains high as, despite defeat, the squad went toe-to-toe with the Scottish champions, taking the game to Celtic and becoming the first domestic team to take the lead at Celtic Park this season.

Ross MacIver opened the scoring after 11 minutes, much to the surprise of the home fans, and the delight of the visiting supporters. Alfredo Agyeman set the striker up just outside the box and MacIver hit a rocket along the ground, beating Schmeichel into the bottom corner. The home side hit back 10 minutes later though, when Paulo Bernardo finished off a well-worked move to volley past Nicky Hogarth. The Bairns weren’t done there, though, and kept pushing to reinstate a lead. Their efforts paid off a minute into first half injury time when Alfredo Agyeman broke free down the right hand side. The winger sent a pinpoint cross to Finn Yeats, who arrived late in the box and sent a perfect header into the bottom right corner, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot and sending the away fans into raptures.

Around the hour mark, Brendan Rodgers decided to bring on some firepower from the bench, introducing Yang, Engels, Taylor and Kuhn. It didn’t take long for the substitutes to make an impact, with Kuhn assisting Idah twice in two minutes just 10 minutes after coming on. The German went on to score in the 81st minute and then again in the 84th minute to complete their comeback.

The Bairns now look to continue their unbeaten league run, with their sights set on a 44th unbeaten game this weekend and hopefully a sixth consecutive win.

Raith Rovers find themselves second bottom of the Championship following a disappointing start to the season from their point of view. Since losing to Airdrieonians on the opening day, Raith have won just a single game, a win that came against Partick Thistle the following week. Losses to Ayr United and Livingston were the final nails in the coffin for Manager Ian Murray who parted ways with the club. New Manager Neill Collins is yet to win a game since joining at the beginning of September, but picked up a point in a six-goal thriller against Hamilton.
