Falkirk fans have always backed their club fantastically, a point never missed by John, Paul, Stephen and the players. That support has doubtlessly contributed to the team’s success and to everyone’s enjoyment.

As we head towards a historic semi-final against Dunfermline Athletic, we have to make sure everyone is aware of the harm that can be done to the club by unacceptable conduct.

Following several pyrotechnic devices being used at the Stenhousemuir Scottish Gas Scottish Cup game, the club was fined £500 and given a suspended penalty whereby 25% of our stadium could be closed for a future cup match if there was a repeat before the end of 2027/28. This could see the North or KM7 Stands closed completely, or up to 50% of the Main Stand with the obvious financial damage that would cause.

We have appealed the severity of the 25% reduction in capacity, and have asked for the SFA’s advice on what they believe the club could reasonably done differently to prevent the devices being used. We will update fans of the outcome of the appeal.

Notwithstanding that, it is vital for us to get the message across loud and clear that pyrotechnic devices are dangerous and illegal, and that their use will harm our club. We have seen pyros cause injury and permanent disfigurement, as well as damage to pitch surfaces. We hosted some of our supporters groups last week for a discussion around this issue, as well as ways to make the atmosphere as positive as possible, which we have relayed to the Scottish FA.

Any individual found using or in possession of these devices will face lengthy, perhaps permanent club bans and will be liable to prosecution.

We will always put our fans first at Falkirk, but not individuals who damage our club. The vast majority of our supporters behave impeccably week after week and bring great credit to our club for their passion, noise and colour.

So please, let’s make Hampden a memorable day for all the right reasons. All Bairns deserve that.
