Falkirk Football Club is excited to announce that academy prospects Thomas Neil and Kalvin Bennett have signed their first contracts with the club.
Striker, Thomas Neil, and midfielder, Kalvin Bennett, have put pen to paper on Modern Apprenticeship deals, both signing on until 2028.
Both players have been standouts during their time with the Falkirk Academy. Since joining The Bairns two seasons ago, Thomas Neil has been a prolific goalscorer, with more than 70 goals across different age groups. Kalvin Bennett has been with the Academy for one season, and is a central midfield player who has imprressed with his composure on the ball. He has been a top performer in the Under-19s and fits in with the club’s style of play. Both players trained with the first team during the second half of last season and Kalvin was included on the bench for Falkirk’s trip to Tynecastle in our penultimate game of the season.
John McGlynn commented on the two new modern apprentices:
“Tam has real potential as a striker. His movement and work rate are first class and his attitude is second to none. He keeps his head down and works hard, he has the vision to see and find his teammates and is very much a team player. He has now taken the next step on the ladder and there’s lots of hard work to come in the next two years to push for a new contract and first team appearances.“
Kalvin is a central midfield player who is in the mould of Brad Spencer. He is very comfortable on the ball as the game builds from the goalkeeper and across the back. His awareness on the ball is beyond his age, he regularly turns out of positions under pressure and his range of passing is right up there. He’s not the biggest but makes up for it with his intelligence to move out of trouble, see passes, and move the ball out of the press. He can play all types of passes and, like Tam Neil, he has also just taken another step on the ladder to become a first team player. We wish both boys all the very best and hope they enjoy doing a job that they love.”
Tony Begg, Head of Academy, Falkirk Football Club, added:
“I’m delighted that both players will be with us for the next couple of years. Both have had a taste of first team training and acquitted themselves well. I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress. I have high hopes for both players and I’m excited to see where they go.”
Thank you to our Academy sponsors, Street Lighting Supplies and GAC, for their continued support of the Falkirk Academy.
