Up next for The Bairns is a trip to Barclays Hampden as we take on Championship side Dunfermline Athletic in the semi-finals of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup.
It doesn’t get much bigger than this.
On Saturday we head to the national stadium to take on Dunfermline Athletic in a bid to reach the final of the Scottish Cup, going one step further than the last time we found ourselves at Hampden.
Three years ago The Bairns suffered a 3-0 defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the semi-finals, having gone on an incredible run while still in League 1. This week, we go into the semi-finals as a top six Premiership side. Another clear reminder of just how far we have come.
Both teams go into Saturday’s match on the back of a loss. The Bairns will be looking to bounce back after a frustrating result against Rangers, in which the title contenders came from two goals down to win by three in a nine-goal rollercoaster ride of a game at The Falkirk Stadium. Having secured top six status with an impressive win against Motherwell at Fir Park two weeks ago however, Falkirk face this weekend’s challenge high in confidence.
Dunfermline have been in good form as of late, boasting an eight win unbeaten streak in all competitions prior to last Saturday. Championship title contenders Partick Thistle hosted the Pars at Firhill, and two first half Alex Samuel goals ended the Fife side’s run.
In just four days we step onto that hallowed turf in Glasgow with our bitter rivals for a shot at glory. Rivals who have failed to win in our last five meetings, with Falkirk taking the bragging rights on three of those occasions. It’s all on the line on Saturday, and over 10,000 of you will be there to back the Bairns.
