UP NEXT: HIBERNIAN (H)

Up next for The Bairns is a home game, as we take on Hibernian this Saturday.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 24th January.

The Bairns have enjoyed a very successful start to 2026 with two wins from three in the league, and head into this weekend’s game having knocked league leaders Hearts out of the Scottish Cup last Saturday.

The Bairns’ will be hoping to carry their momentum back into the league this weekend as we face Hibernian for the third time this season. The Bairns have yet to beat the Edinburgh side this campaign, with the two sides drawing 2-2 at The Falkirk Stadium back in September, and Hibs taking the spoils after defeating Falkirk by three goals to nil at Easter Road in December.

Despite losing to Celtic in midweek, it was a game that Falkirk dominated and should have won. They took the same performance levels to Tynecastle on Saturday, and opened the scoring in the second half through new signing Ben Parkinson. The former Newcastle United youngster showed real strikers instinct to get across his man in the box and prod home Filip Lissah’s ball across the box into the back of the net, following an excellent bit of play from the right back.

The home side equalised with four minutes left of the 90 when Leon McCann brought down new Hearts man Islam Chesnokov in the box. Premiership top scorer, Lawrence Shankland, stepped up to tuck the penalty away.

Nothing separated the two sides after 30 minutes of extra time, so to penalties we went. The Bairns scored every single penalty, with Ben Parkinson firing the last kick into the net, after Elton Kabangu’s miss, to secure Falkirk’s place in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Falkirk have the chance to finish the weekend within two points of Hibernian, who sit five points ahead currently in fifth.

David Gray’s side are five unbeaten in the Premiership, their last game being a 1-1 draw with Motherwell. They did not manage to avoid defeat last weekend, however, crashing out of the Scottish Cup on the same day as their city rivals.

Hibs travelled to East End Park to face Dunfermline in the fourth round, and in one of the upsets of the weekend, conceded a 92nd minute own goal as Hibs midfielder Miguel Chaiwa inadvertently sent the Pars through to the next round by putting the ball in the wrong net.
