UP NEXT: KILMARNOCK (H)

Up next for The Bairns is another Saturday home game as we welcome Kilmarnock to The Falkirk Stadium.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 1st November.

MATCH PREVIEW

The Bairns return to The Falkirk Stadium this Saturday after a tough trip to Celtic Park on Wednesday night. Falkirk went in to the game after securing back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, with great wins away to Motherwell and at home against Dundee.

Celtic had lost their previous two games and had a new managerial team in the dugout, with Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney having been appointed on Tuesday. The match looked pretty even for the opening 30 minutes, with Falkirk getting the first shot on target through Scott Arfield. The home side broke the deadlock after half an hour through Johnny Kenny, who fired home a rebound after Scott Bain did well to push Benjamin Nygren’s effort onto the post. Kenny was on the score sheet again 10 minutes later, this time through a brilliantly worked move. An Anthony Ralston cross from deep found Nygren, who headed the ball back across goal for Kenny to nod in his second.

Celtic moved through the gears and looked even more dangerous in the second half. The third came two minutes before the hour mark. This time it was Nygren getting in on the act, tapping home from another rebound as Bain parried Marcelo Sarrachi’s volley. The fourth and final goal came in the 73rd minute. Luke McCowan sent a pinpoint pass over the top for Sebastian Tounekti, who got to the ball before Liam Henderson’s lunching challenge and tucked the ball calmly into the back of the net.

Kilmarnock, our visitors this Saturday, visit The Falkirk Stadium on the back of three consecutive defeats. Killie hosted Aberdeen last night with the aim of turning their fortunes around, following back-to-back defeats against Hearts and Rangers. Aberdeen’s form has picked up after their horror start to the season, and they got back to winning ways thanks to a Stuart Armstrong goal. The loss for Kilmarnock means they drop down to eighth in the standings, one place and two points behind Falkirk.
