MATCH PREVIEW

The Bairns travel to Ibrox for the first time this season, on the back off an impressive and dominant win against Dundee United at Tannadice last weekend.

Falkirk are in red hot form at the moment, and have taken seven points from a possible nine in recent weeks. Saturday’s win saw John McGlynn’s side go three without defeat, and they boast just one loss in their last seven matches.

The boys got off to a flyer on Saturday, opening the scoring in front of a excellent travelling support after just three minutes. After some great defensive work, Brad Spencer played in Calvin Miller, who slotted into an empty net after his initial effort was parried back to him by United ‘keeper, Kucherenko.

The opposition goalkeeper was at fault again for the Bairns’ second of the afternoon, which arrived in the 22nd minute. This time it was a Calvin Miller corner kick delivery that he couldn’t deal with, punching the ball into the back of his own net.

The third came in the second half, three minutes after the hour mark. Calvin Miller was at the heart of things yet again, playing a lobbed, outside of the foot pass into the channel where Brian Graham picked up the ball, rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into the net.

It was Falkirk’s fifth win of the season, and what a return to the Premiership it has been for the Bairns so far as they sit sixth in the table after 13 games, with 19 points to their name.

Just above us in fifth, sit this Sunday’s opposition. Although Rangers have a game in hand, they find themselves only two points ahead of Falkirk in the standings.

Rangers have yet to drop points in the league since the arrival of new Manager, Danny Rohl. The Gers have won four consecutive league games, propelling themselves back into the top six.

They hosted struggling Livingston at Ibrox last weekend in a match where the main talking point was yet another controversial VAR decision. Emmanuel Fernandez opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a towering header from a corner kick, but the home side’s goal was cancelled out nine minutes later, as Tete Yengi equalised for the visitors.

The winner came with 12 minutes left to play. James Tavernier played a great early cross from deep that found Bojan Miovski. At full stretch, the striker could only poke the ball past the ‘keeper into the path of Diomande, who had the easy job of putting the ball into the gaping net.

The Bairns will feel they should have won the last meeting between the two sides at The Falkirk Stadium earlier in the season, when a Henry Cartwright screamer secured a point for Falkirk. Rangers have less time to prepare for Sunday, as they host Braga in Europa League action on Thursday night.
