UP NEXT: RANGERS (H)

Up next for The Bairns is a return to The Falkirk Stadium, as we host Rangers in William Hill Premiership action.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Sunday 5th October.

MATCH PREVIEW

The squad prepares for another big game this weekend with Rangers visiting FK2.

Falkirk will be looking to bounce back after suffering defeat at Tyncastle last Saturday. The Bairns travelled to the capital to take on high-flying Hearts after battling back from two goals down to earn a point against their local rivals Hibernian mid-week.

Every game in this league is a tough game, and Saturday’s fixture proved no different. The hosts opened the scoring after a decent opening 20 minutes from a Falkirk point of view, and it was one of those goals you just have to applaud, as Alexandros Kyziridis scored a goal of the season contender.

Cutting in from the left, the Greek winger skipped past the challenges of both Keelan Adams and Brad Spencer, before curling an effort into the top corner from 20-yards out. The second goal followed 20 minutes later when Lawrence Shankland dispossessed Henry Cartwright 25-yards out from Scott Bain’s goal. The in-form striker took his effort early, hitting a low, powerful shot into the back of the net.

The third came just three minutes after the restart. A defensive error forced Scott Bain into an impressive save to deny Shankland a second goal, conceding a corner in the process. The corner kick from Kyziridis found the head of Craig Halkett, who headed home.

After six games, The Bairns sit 11th in the league table with five points. It would be a much more precarious position if it weren’t for the fact that only three points separates 11th from fourth.

Our visitors this Sunday haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the season, currently finding themselves occupying eighth place.

Russell Martin’s Rangers secured their first win of the season last Sunday with a late winner against Livingston at Almondvale. A tidy overhead kick goal from Gers captain James Tavernier in the 23rd minute was cancelled out by a strike from Livingston’s Mohamad Sylla in the second half. In what was an exciting game, it was Rangers who ended up taking the spoils into injury time, when Max Aarons struck home from a corner in the fourth minute of added time with four left to play. The win lifted Rangers out of the relegation play-off spot.
