UP NEXT: ST MIRREN (H)

Up next for The Bairns is a return to The Falkirk Stadium as we host St Mirren in William Hill Premiership action.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 21st March.

MATCH PREVIEW

Falkirk have a chance to secure top six this weekend as we look to continue our good form against St Mirren on Saturday. The team will be looking to make it four unbeaten in all competitions following a 5-1 demolition of Kilmarnock, a win against Dundee United to progress to the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals, and a draw against Aberdeen last weekend.

Having already won there back in August, The Bairns travelled to Pittodrie last Saturday hoping to take nine points from a possible nine from Aberdeen this season. Throughout a largely uneventful first half, Falkirk looked the stronger team and the most likely to score, however it was the hosts who took the lead deep into the second half. Under pressure, Falkirk were forced to play back to Scott Bain in goals. He didn’t clear his lines quick enough and his attempted clearance ricocheted off the onrushing Kevin Nisbet, who managed to nod the ball into the empty net.

Neither side saw very many clear-cut chances, but Falkirk managed to equalise at the death. It was none other than the man in form, Barney Stewart, who rescued a point for The Bairns, nodding home Ethan Ross’ in-swinging ball into the box.

With Dundee United also drawing, after conceding 94th and 96th minute goals in the Dundee Derby, we find ourselves nine points ahead of them, with nine points to play for before the split.

Saturday’s visitors currently sit 10th in the table and find themselves without a league win in six.

They hosted Rangers at the SMISA Stadium on Sunday in their first match post Stephen Robinson. Their poor run would continue, with Tuur Rommens scoring the only goal of the game in the 31st minute when Nico Raskin clipped a ball to the back post, setting up an easy finish for the full-back.
