Up next for The Bairns is our William Hill Premiership opener. We host St Mirren at The Falkirk Stadium as we embark on our second season in the top-flight.
After exceeding expectations with a top-six finish in our first Premiership campaign in 15 years last season, The Bairns are looking to build on that success going into the 2026/27 season.
Having lost a number of crucial players, John McGlynn has brought in 11 new summer signings to rebuild the squad. After impressing in training, and during the training camp in Portugal, the team fell short in this season’s Premier Sports Cup group stage, failing to qualify for the next round after disappointing results against Ayr United and Alloa Athletic. Despite that, a victory against Stranraer in the final group game sees the team head into Matchday One on the back of a win.
St Mirren go into the new season hoping for a better finish than last season, having narrowly escaped relegation by beating Partick Thistle 2-1 on aggregate in the Premiership Play-off Final to retain their top-flight status. Last season’s Premier Sports Cup winners began their league cup campaign with three wins, putting four goals past Dumbarton, Cove Rangers, and East Kilbride. They fell short of a clean sweep of the group, falling to defeat against Dunfermline thanks to an 88th minute penalty.
The Buddies took six points from their two trips to The Falkirk Stadium last season, and The Bairns will be determined not to let them take nine from three.
